CAFVIC - Capital Area Family Violence Intervention Center

Shelter Services

Emergency shelter licensed to offer safe refuge to 60 battered women and their dependent children. Services include free room and board, counseling, residential support groups three times per week, emergency transportation, advocacy, children's services, emergency financial assistance, and help with relocating to assure safety.  Our staff and volunteer advocates coordinate services for the women and children that support the goals and objectives set forth by our clients. The first principle of recovery from abuse is the empowerment of the survivor. A survivor must be the author and arbiter of her own recovery. CAFVIC’s Battered Women Program guiding principle of recovery is to restore power and control to the survivor.
