Outreach
We recognize the need for support and services regardless of where a woman lives. Outreach offices have been established in Ascension Parish (Gonzales), Pointe Coupee Parish (New Roads), the Feliciana Parishes (Clinton), and in Iberville Parish (Plaquemine). Counselor/Advocates and community organizers provide telephone, face-to-face counseling and support groups to battered women. They also provide information and referral to other community resources, assist battered women in accessing our shelter services, provide advocacy on behalf of
the battered woman and her children, conduct community education and provide court advocacy and support services.
Agency coordinated and facilitated Coordinated Community Response Teams have developed networks in each community to assure a collaborative response by law enforcement, the judicial system, the health care system, and the general service system.
In addition, battered women from our outreach parishes have access to our statewide toll free crisis line so that women can call, 24 hours a day, at no charge, for assistance with transportation, advocacy, shelter or referrals to other resources.
Our agency serves the following seven core parishes: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana.
Our agency provides some services in collaboration with other domestic violence programs to the following parishes: Assumption, Livingston, St. Helena and St. James.
